I just came back from one of, if not the best trip of my life. A photography trip to Malaga.

& Amazing Vibes.
This is my second experience with Epic Xperience, who are a duo of photographers (IAmJadoreTV & NorteyRazzi), running events and trips for creatives to gain experience and knowledge, building a community as they go. Each event has been incredible, but this was on another level!
I had a vague expectation of what the trip was going to be like, having seen highlights and behind the scenes of previous trips, but I still wasn’t prepared for the whole experience. With an itinerary planned out and local knowledge, I think I would have loved this trip either way, but the group of people on this trip were incredible.
Everyone was always smiling, and there was always someone up for an adventure or ridiculous photo idea. The opportunities were truly boundless and I could have stayed for another week without blinking an eye, (although work might have had something to say about that). We had 4 major excursions planned for the three main shooting days. A waterfall hike, local mountainside town, and then the beach both at night and in the day.
The Hike
On our first full day there, we had the biggest shoot of them all. The waterfall hike. At some points in the journey, you wouldn’t be able to tell you’re in Spain, there are tropical plants, greenery all around and some truly breathtaking views. It was a long day, but my god was it worth it!
The first location on the hike was a shallow part of the stream with sunlight peeking through, fallen branches creating arches to walk through, and vibrant green leaves surrounding the area. Even though this was our first “shoot” of the week, everyone dived straight in and got creating. It was incredible to see so many other creatives do their thing.
Not much further up the trail was our second stop, a waterfall just off to the side of the regular path. The photos to come out of this spot alone are insane and were worth the entire hike. This time the models were shot by every photographer at the same time. There was only one real spot to pose, even so, there was no lack of angles or different approaches to get creative. Even with six photographers shooting one model, you could always find a different spot to shoot from if you wanted.
Now stop 3 had a key feature with a two-step log damn in the middle of the river, however, a rock to the side became the star of the show when one model’s idea for some booty pics became the centre of attention. With varying levels of elevation and 360-degree views, the rock was a perfect platform. And on top of this, there was a beautiful water pool with overhanging branches and an incredible canyon face in the background!
At the top of the hike, there were enormous boulders and plenty of locations for more photos. One of my favourite shots came from the top as we explored the marvels of nature and used the scenery to our advantage. The views were incredible and the content was so worth the long hike. However, the hike back down although not challenging, made us realise how far we had walked that day. It’s safe to say all of our feet were a little sore the next day.
Frigiliana
Frigiliana is a quaint mountain town with views to die for. It was a beautiful place with mosaic tiled streets, colourful doors contrasting with white walls, and huge mountainscapes surrounding it all. It had variety and provided mini excursions for photographers and models, each finding their own nearby location. It was a beautiful spot for a fashion day.
Beach at Night
Shooting at night was something new for me as I have no flash but it provided an experience for me to learn, and created an opportunity for some photographers to work together. Using mostly torches on phones, I came out with some incredible photos where I was expecting none. There’s a whole new world of possibility out there when shooting in the dark and I’m looking forward to exploring it more in the future.
Beach in the Day
The final planned shoot was of course a beach shoot. And the location we had was stunning. With huge climbable rocks right on the seafront, there was infinite locations and angles for different content. It was amazing to see others work and take inspiration from their work while honing my own craft and style in new locations. On top of this, I personally loved that we were shooting in the midst of a normal beach. The public was everywhere and they didn’t care, and for the most part, everyone was courteous and didn’t bat an eyelid about what we were doing.
Spontaneous Shoots
One of the many great things about this trip was the freedom for spontaneous shoots if people were down. There were several occasions where I came together with a model or two for photos in our villa’s, which weren’t planned but allowed for more creativity and good times with some amazing people. Everyone on this trip was willing to try new things, if not eager to do so. It was incredibly refreshing and inspiring to be around, and I cannot wait to do something like this again.
I would recommend a trip with Epic to anyone looking for new content, experience with more models and photographers, looking to learn from fellow creatives, and creatives who just want to have a great time with like-minded people! There really isn’t a bad thing to say about this trip, other than it was bloody hot, but I didn’t factor that in and it was my own fault for being underprepared.
All of the planned photoshoots were incredible and having the freedom to do what you want, while still being in a group was amazing. I cannot wait to go on another trip with them, and sincerely hope I get to shoot with all the models again and catch up with the photographers (hopefully) on another trip! Because those vibes and that experience was life-changing and confirms my dreams of wanting to be able to do that full time!
