My Year in Review: 2020 – Where I found Inspiration

2020 brought a lot of change for almost everyone. For me, it was the year I made time for what I enjoy, and the year I started taking photography seriously.

Looking back on it, I wanted to take some time and mention some of the people who have helped me this past year. Directly or indirectly, they have inspired, educated, and/or motivated me to pursue my passion and continuously improve myself. So here are the photographers who had the biggest impact on my photography, as I take a look at my year in review.

Quite possibly the greatest influence on my photography. Not only do I love his style, but his educational content helped me grow in confidence, improve my work, and learn so much. His YouTube channel is a great resource for boudoir photographers, especially those who are at the beginning of their journey. For me his style of teaching works very well and being a successful male boudoir photographer in a huge city just proves to me that it’s possible, and ultimately gives me hope, confidence, and more drive to continue doing what I’m doing.

Coming across Stephen’s work in lockdown might be one of my highlights of the year. I instantly fell in love with his presentation and the themes that he brought to life on his feed. Every new post got me thinking creatively and inspired me to try new things, focus on my craft, and really introduced me to a different way of doing things. Adapting with the times and still being successful.

Not only is Sally a wonderful and humorous person, but she is also incredibly talented on both sides of the camera. Her photography is something I aspire to, creating beautiful pieces of art with whatever she has at her disposal. As a model and self-portrait extraordinaire she continuously inspires me to not only work harder and stay creative but to experiment and just create more.

Katherine is a great personal friend, and I had the pleasure of travelling around Europe with her early in the year. The amount I learned from her, not just behind the camera, but behind the scenes in terms of process is unparalleled. She has helped me more than she knows and is an incredible talent on both sides of the camera herself.

Although a latecomer in the year for me, his work has been of incredible value. The amount of inspiration this man has given me, not just for poses, outfits, themes, and locations, but the drive to travel abroad for photographic experiences and make the most of what the world has to offer cannot go unrecognised.
