I wanted to share more about what it’s like to work with me, so you can learn what it’s like shooting with Isaac Cox. From behind the scenes nuances, what to expect during the shoot, my editing process, and everything in-between.
Introduction
Depending on who reaches out to who this might change slightly. In general, I introduce myself and ask what you’re looking for, or ask if you’re down to model one of the styles I have in mind. From here I will do my best to understand the clients/models wants and get a feeling of their boundaries so I know what I can and can’t create.
Brainstorming
Here I take what I know about the desired outcome and the boundaries we have set to create a mood board, depicting the overall vibe and styles I think would be a great fit. This turns into a collaborative process, sharing inspiration and ideas until we narrow down 2 or 3 styles and directions that we both love.
Planning
Once we have the ideas and set direction(s), I start to nail down the set I need to build, the backdrops that will work best, what lighting I want and poses to have in mind with guidance to go with. This is when the planning process becomes more focused and deliberate, finding out what wardrobe options we have, sharing examples of poses, as well as the important things like what snacks and drinks are wanted for the shoot.
Meeting & Shooting
These sections can be separate but for the most part a lot of my clients/models I meet for the first time in person when we come together to shoot. To start there are brief pleasantries and setting up with refreshments, as well as going over any desired order of outfits as well as confirming what we are shooting and the boundaries.
Then the fun begins. We choose the music, turn on the lights and start creating. I try to help and guide as much as necessary, keeping everyone as relaxed and comfortable as possible. I will show you previews from time to time to help guide a position, and so you can see how incredible you look. I always aim to provide the best experience possible, and I believe in enjoying your work, so I will end up talking throughout – literally about anything and everything. I will sing along to the songs, make bad jokes, and tell random stories that I’ve just remembered. We genuinely just have a good time and watch the hours go past.
Editing
Almost always, I will send out some proofs after my first look through later that day or night so you can see what you helped create, and hopefully shock you with how great you look. From here I narrow it down a bit more and send over the final selection for you to choose your edits. Of course, there can be requests for re-edits or extra edits, and I may edit some in a way I like and then in a way you request. Whatever happens though, I will always get approval before posting your photos anywhere.
Post Everything
I like to keep in touch with people and love seeing people’s journeys. More often than not I stay in touch, at least vaguely through social media and will always be available to talk to. Just know I’ll always be rooting for you and hyping you up!
